BIG CIRCLE AUCTIONS

Color

Four tiers, not one flat palette. The six colors of the mark keep their meaning only while they stay attached to the idea of membership. Click any value to copy it.

Tier 1 — Foundation

Nearly every surface is one of these two. If a decision is unclear, the answer is ink on white.

Ink
Text, the ring of the mark, dark grounds. A desaturated navy, not black.
White
The default ground, and the reversed mark on ink.

Tier 2 — Signature accent

One accent, used sparingly, always meaning action or forward motion. Two values, because an accent that has to work as text needs a darker cut.

Patina
Fills, large areas, charts, the member inside the mark.
Patina Deep
Links, buttons and accent text on white. Reaches 6.0:1, where Patina alone reaches 4.19:1.
Patina Tint
Quiet grounds for status pills and highlighted rows.

Tier 3 — Membership palette

The six members of the mark, in fixed order clockwise from the top. Reserved for the mark itself, for representing participants, and for categorization. Never reorder or substitute one.

Cinnabar
Member 1. Error and destructive states.
Copper
Member 2. AUCTIONS in the lockup.
Brass
Member 3. Warning and pending states.
Patina
Member 4, and the signature accent.
Oxide
Member 5. Informational states.
Mulberry
Member 6.

Tier 4 — Neutrals

Text, rules and grounds. Slate 700 is the body text default; Slate 600 is the lightest value that carries small text on white.

Slate 700
Body text. 8.3:1 on white.
Slate 600
Secondary text. 5.9:1 on white.
Slate 500
Disabled text and icons only.
Slate 300
Borders on interactive elements.
Hairline
Rules, dividers, card borders.
Slate 100
Panel and placeholder grounds.

Contrast

Text needs 4.5:1

At headline sizes, 24 px bold and above, 3:1 is enough. Everything smaller needs the full ratio.

White works on four

Cinnabar, Oxide, Mulberry, and Slate 600 and darker. It does not pass on Patina, Copper, Brass or Slate 500.

Ink works on three

Brass, Copper, and Slate 300 and lighter. Ink on Patina reaches only 3.97:1.

Patina and Slate 500

Neither white nor ink passes on these two at small sizes. Set captions beside or beneath them, never on top.
